About Guided Fly Fishing

Welcome to Trout Town, USA! New to fly fishing? Experienced angler? Somewhere in between? Maybe you’re looking to challenge yourself on technical tailwaters or maybe you prefer to head for the mountains in search of hungry, wild trout? We have something for everyone and we’re happy to have you! The Catskill Mountain region is famed for being the birthplace of American Fly Fishing! The area offers excellent dry fly fishing, showcasing all of the major mayfly and caddis hatches. In between hatches, we may fish nymphs, streamers, or big hoppers to the banks and chase brown, rainbow, and brook trout! Our trips are catered to your skill level and all trips for new anglers will begin with an hour of basic instruction. Our goal is to have fun, educate, and help you gain the knowledge you need to be confident and successful on the river! Whether you want to work on your fly presentation, learn to read water, or you’re looking to escape the rush of everyday life for some time on the water, we are here to make your time with us fun and enjoyable. Our guides are here to help you perfect the art of fly-fishing right in Trout Town, USA!

Be sure to let us know what you are looking to get out of your time with us and let us plan your trip of a lifetime! Our guides know the rivers well and can accommodate any skill level, physical ability, and navigate any river conditions to provide the best experience in the Catskills! Due to ever changing conditions and hatches, when possible, we always suggest multiple days of fishing!

We fish a variety of water including the Willowemoc, Beaverkill, the Neversink, the East Branches of the Delaware, Esopus Creek, and various small mountain brook trout streams. We’ve got some of the most wader-friendly water around – From the tumbling freestone rivers to the slow, technical tailwaters. All fishing is catch & release and on public water.

Trips Include:
– Half or Full day guided fly fishing, 1:3 guide to angler max

What Our Clients Are Saying…

Our second time out with Covert Creek Outfitting. Super Happy with our experience both times! Knowledgeable, professional, and patient. Joe did some coaching on technique and fly selection. We caught fish both times and learned even more about reading the water. Highly recommend!

Amazing time with Joe! He brought everything we need and met us at our hotel’s stream. We practiced for the first 45 minutes on the lawn, and he really explained everything clearly and was so patient with questions. Then we headed into the stream where Joe found multiple fishing spots and taught us even more. All in all, we spent 4 hours with Joe and had the best time! Highly recommend!!
-Michael K.

Joe was an excellent instructor and guide. If you are a beginner fly fisher – Joe walks you through the whole experience and teaches you before you hit the water. He made us feel comfortable and excited for the trip. Joe found all the good spots in the water and set us up. We learned a lot and had a great time!! We learned a lot about the local fly fishing. Highly recommend!
Allie R.

Joe is an awesome fishing guide. Went out to the Willowemoc after a bunch of rain the day before, water was really high. But Joe got me on to fish, including some really quality wild browns. In addition to catching fish Joe gave me a lot of good information for me to be successful on my own in the Catskill rivers.
