Well, it’s been a bit… A crazy season, a busy year, another bird dog…

Not too long now until dogs hit the ground on the Northern Prairies. Most importantly, that means not too long til the tailgate drops in our favorite grouse coverts. Coming off a summer that gave us 104 degree days and humidity that wrecked you before the day began, we are set for the fall season. Nesting conditions for both grouse and woodcock were much more favorable than last year and we are expecting a season with more young birds than last. As always, don’t delay booking your hunt… Our calendar fills fast and we are almost two years out on all hunts. We are already talking about spring fly fishing for the ’27 season – don’t miss out on your prime dates for hendricksons, march browns, isonychia, and of course the drakes!
Myself and the team have been keeping dogs in shape and we are ready to bring our A-game. The veteran dogs and the young guns are running hard and at the top of their game. Be sure to get in one or two practice sessions on the clays course, knock that rust off, and be set to make the shot that counts!

We’ve had lots working in the background at Covert Creek Outfitting. First off – “Guide Talk”… Our new blog series where you’ll hear from myself, the guides of CCO, and special guests. We will be posting a weekly blog that will showcase stories from the field, notes on gear, working dogs, various ramblings, and I’m sure some hot takes of questionable merit. A long time coming and launching very, very soon… The Trout & Grouse Club! Hosted via Patreon, we will soon be launching our new social club centered around Trout & Grouse, good friendships, and great times afield. From monthly zoom room happy hours, Q&As, local gatherings, and even an Upland Membership where we will help you develop yourself and your bird dog in the world of wild birds and ruffed grouse. We set out to build a community centered around outdoor pursuits for the social sportsman and we’re excited to have you as our newest Member! More to come soon…
