About Fly Fishing Lessons in the Catskills
We’re pleased to offer fly fishing lessons in the Catskill Mountains! Learn to fly fish in Roscoe, New York; “Trout Town USA!” Our goal is to have fun, educate, and help you gain the knowledge you need to be confident and successful on the river! We all started somewhere, and we know it can be intimidating walking into a shop not knowing where to start… Whether it’s your first time in a pair of waders or you’re looking to refine your skills, our seasoned guides can help! Maybe you’re here looking to work on your fly presentation, learn to read water, or simply looking to escape the rush of everyday life for some time on the water, we’ve got you covered. Our guides are here to help you perfect the art of fly-fishing right here in the heart of the Catskills!
All of our Catskill fly fishing lessons and introductions to fly fishing begin on the lawn. Our team will teach you proper fly-casting technique, multiple ways to cast a fly rod, how to tie basic fishing knots, and go through all of the essential gear. You can expect about an hour of dry-ground instruction before heading to the river. From there, we continue to develop your casting, all while bringing in the elements of wading safety, reading a river, and presenting a fly to fish. Day number one is about the basics and the essentials; our goal is to have fun and set the stage for a new passion!
Be sure to let us know what you are looking to get out of your time with us and let us plan your trip of a lifetime! Our guides know the rivers well and can accommodate any skill level, physical ability, and navigate any river conditions to provide the best experience in the Catskills! Due to ever changing conditions and hatches, when possible, we always suggest multiple days of fishing!
We fish a variety of water including the Willowemoc, Beaverkill, the Neversink, the East Branch of the Delaware, Esopus Creek, and various small mountain brook trout streams. We’ve got some of the most wader-friendly water around – From the tumbling freestone rivers to the slow, technical tailwaters. All fishing is catch & release and on public water.
