Creek & Cackle Fly Fishing began out of a passion for the outdoors – specifically fly fishing for trout in the Catskill Mountains and upland bird hunting for pheasant and grouse. I am New York State licensed fly fishing and hunting guide, my primary focus being fly fishing the Hudson Valley and Catskill Mountains. Having grown up bird hunting and spin fishing, I was no stranger to either the field or stream. It wasn’t til years later that I picked up a fly rod. I had always wanted to, though. I had always been enamored by the art form that is fly fishing; the image of standing in the river while it flows around your feet, the peaceful drift of your fly moving downriver, and finally a trout sipping your fly as it passes overhead. Fly fishing and fly tying quickly became my passions, consuming most of my free time [and even some of my not so free time!]. I quickly learned that I find great pleasure in teaching others and helping them catch their first [or 100th] trout on a fly – Creek & Cackle was then an idea. I am passionate about the waters throughout the Catskills, particularly the Esopus Creek. I guide on this water and it’s tributaries in search of wild rainbows, wild and stocked browns, and also native brook trout. As a Hudson Valley resident, I can also guide you on the Wappinger Creek, Fishkill Creek, or Roeliff-Jansen Kill. Creek & Cackle is about a passion for the outdoors. Let’s talk fly fishing, or better yet, spend some time on the river together!
